1967 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500

In the early 60's you could actually rent a Ford Mustang from Hertz rent-a-car. The 67' Shelby Mustang GT500 had a lot of horsepower, it was quick and had 140 on the dash. The 428cid V8 was perfect for the road or the strip, it was and still is a civilized stallion.

One Of The Most Durable Cars Of 1955

The Ford Thunderbird was one of the most durable cars of 1955, It had a strong steel body and a loud 292cid V8 engine. The engine cooler was standard and it just looked stylish. It has the power in the range of 212-300 horses, it has dual exhausts, and you have the choice of a convertible. The 1954 Chevrolet Corvette was no match for the 1955 Ford Thunderbird.

The 1949 Cadillac Series 62 kicked off one of the greatest eras for American cars. It was just under $300.00 which undercut the competition, it is performance driven and beautifully designed. The Series 62 introduced us to tail fins and a high compression V8 engine.

1971 Buick Riviera

The 1971 Riviera is a  beautiful automobile. It's a relaxed ride that gives a unique experience. It was a daring new design that was longer and wider than most cars. The craftsmanship and engineering was awesome with a excellent aerodynamic style. It was a luxurious car with convenient features that made your motoring experience enjoyable.

1964 Chevrolet Corvair

72' Corvair 500 Series Coupe

One Of The Most Inexpensive Luxurious Cars Of The Seventies

The 1972 Chevrolet Caprice was of the most inexpensive luxurious cars of the seventies. It gave people the opportunity to drive in style without putting a dent in their wallet. Standard power steering, a Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic transmission, and fade-resistant power front disc brakes. A vinyl and cloth interior with lots of room and stylish design patterns.

American Cars Of The Fifties

Automobiles in the fifties were mostly family cars, they were large and in charge, and perfect for family outings, and trips. By the mid 50's America owned a vast majority of all the cars in the world. As a result parking lots, shopping centers, drive-ins, movie theaters, and freeways popped up everywhere. Woodrow Wilson called the American car "a picture of the arrogance of wealth". The picture above is a 1953 Packard Caribbean Convertible.

1973 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

1973 Chevrolet Laguna Type S-3

The 1973 Chevrolet Laguna Type S-3 was a personal luxury coupe as well as a sportier Chevelle similar to the Monte Carlo. It is a muscle car with sophisticated performance and a unique design. The swivel bucket seats are very comfortable and the striped bottom really made it look sporty.

1976 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible

The 1976 Cadillac Eldorado convertible at the time was supposed to be known as the last American convertible. When Cadillac announced that they were going to stop manufacturing the model people went into a frenzy trying to buy up the last 200. It was massive and slow, it had a 500cid V8 engine with only 190bhp and a top speed of only 109.

1957 Chevrolet Bel Air

You were "doing the most" in 57' if you pulled up to pick up your date in a Chevrolet Bel-Air. The Bel-Air was cool, it was a rock "n" roll car, and was the embodiment of young mid-fifties America. It pumped out 1hp per cubic inch and had a super turbo fire V8 engine. It was exactly what America needed.

American Cars

In the early 40's, 50's, and 60's the British, Germans, and Europeans really snarled at American cars. They came up with all kinks of reasons why our cars were terrible. Whether it was weight and size, or our sense of style, or the reliability. But what did they have to offer? Were they just jealous?

1969 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Spyder

Since the late 40's Ferrari always used a dynamic oval grille like on the Berlinetta's and the Barchettas. It wasn't until 1969 that Pininfarina decided that aerodynamics were more important. Changing the aerodynamics would cause for a major design overhaul. So, they recessed the headlights and side marker light units into a tough plastic creating the 1969 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Spyder.

1968 Ford Falcon

68' Falcon, 68' was a great year for cars.

1965 Chrysler 300L

Competition was stiff in 65' with the Oldsmobile Starfire, the Buick Riviera, and the amazing Ford Thunderbird. The Chrysler 300L was a beauty, it had a high output 413cid V8 engine that was smooth and reliable. It was a sports car but it was a long sports car, it came as a convertible or a hardtop.

1949 The Year Of Convertible Cars

1949 was the year convertible cars became super popular. Glamorous postwar designs were made by every automobile manufacturer. The 1949 Pontiac Chieftain is a beauty, the extravagant chrome mud guards appeared on De Luxe versions and went well with the chrome strip along the side and the 5 chrome strips going from the hood to the tail. This car didn't have power brakes or power steering, things we take for granted now a days.

1957 Chrysler New Yorker

The 1957 Chrysler New Yorker was one of the most gorgeous cars Chrysler has ever made, the problem is that they didn't make enough. Chrysler only made 10,948 models and even though the car was beautiful it had it's problems. The styling was awarded two gold medals, and the engine was superb, but the propensity for rust, and a poor finish made sales disappointing.

1970 Lamborghini

1958 Buick Limited Riviera

1958 was a recession period for the car industry. The 1958 Buick Limited Riviera was over priced and only 7,436 units were made. The transmission was not up to standards and you really couldn't trust the braking system. Even with the power of 300 horses the Limited was way too heavy. This was a bad year for the Riviera.

1966 Ford LTD

Ford responded to the upscale 1965 Chevrolet Caprice by introducing the LTD. Similar to it's Galaxie Sedan but more luxurious and priced amazingly low the LTD proved that Ford wouldn't back down to it's competitors. It has a solid look, many options of color for the interior and the hidden headlights were a nice touch as well.

1966 Chevrolet Camaro

One Of The Most Satisfying Cars Of 1958

The 1958 Cadillac Sedan De Ville had advanced features and the engineering provided for one of the most satisfying performance cars that was also extremely comfortable. The De Ville only came as a 4 door hard top in 58', it has a beautiful grille, those chrome streaks coming from the headlights are stylish and those tail fins were pretty cool as well.

1969 Pontiac GTO SS

This is a sweet engine blower and paint job on this classic 1969 Pontiac GTO SS.

1966 Buick Skylark GS

I added a new feature to my blog to help you and me stay up to date daily with news about muscle cars and what's in store for the future in the automobile industry! http://carsweluv.blogspot.com/2015/10/1966-buick-skylark-gs.html This 66' Buick is old school, but don't let the grey hair fool you, she can still go.

1960 Chrysler 300F Convertible

The 1960 Chrysler 300F was red hot and smoking. It had a 413cid V8 engine and had 140 on the dash. The 300F had it's Ram tuning tricks that raised torque and horsepower and made it a serious muscle car with outstanding performance. The red hot color they used is sexy, and the style of the 300F was sleek. It had tall tailfins, half of a chrome streak on the back end of the car, and white wall wheels were standard.

Muscle Car

Wow I don't know what kind of car that is but it looks pretty sweet.

1958 Lincoln Capri

The 1958 Lincoln Capri had great handling and with it's unitary body it was very quick as it hugged corners. The only problem was that it was horrifying to look at. One of the most ugliest designs, the huge bumpers, the fenders, the sculpted wheel arches, and the ugly headlights. During the recession in 58' it was a bad year for such an ugly car. Sorry Lincoln.

1966 Ford Mustang

My oh my how I love my classic american muscle cars.

Tail Fins

In 1948 Harley Earl was granted access to view the Lockheed P-38 aeroplane at the Selfridge Field Air Force base near Detroit. It was there where he got the inspiration for the tail fin design on cars. The first car to show off the new tail fin design was the 1949 Cadillac which by the way was Cadillac's best sales year ever. Everyone followed suit but tail fins were getting bigger and bigger until the era  came to an end in 1959.

1960 Chevrolet Impala

In the sixties manufacturers started toning down the massive styling their cars were known for in the fifties. Styling was more clean and those awful tail fins started to phase out. The 1960 Chevrolet Impala turned it's tail fins into wings which is kind of cool in my opinion. It has a 348cid V8 engine, and engines varied form 170-335 horses.

Experimental Cars Of 1973

The 1973 Chevrolet XP 898 was one of many experimental cars that never went to production. The body was bonded together using liquid urethane and a foaming mold. This method made the body super stone and able to pass crash tests at 50 mph with limited damage. It had a engine very similar to the Chevrolet Vega.

1988 Pontiac Banshee

The 1988 Pontiac Banshee was a experimental car that never went into production. It had a lot of electrical innovations, there were no door handles, and it had a key-less entry system. The spoilers were adjustable, the steering adjusted electronically, and the pedals were electronically adjusted. It had t.v.'s and speakers in the headrests, and a computer that showed the road and how far away were other cars. The Banshee also had a super sweet design.

1964 Mustang Convertible

1993 Ford Mustang Mach III

The 1993 Ford Mustang Mach III was a concept car used to show how Mustang would be moving forward with their design, the car never went into production. It's a beautiful car and surely you can recognize many similarities with Mustangs that came out after 93'. It had adjustable pedals, dual exhaust, and it ran on gasoline and methanol. It had a 4.6 liter V8 engine with the power of 450 horses.
