1949 was the year convertible cars became super popular. Glamorous postwar designs were made by every automobile manufacturer. The 1949 Pontiac Chieftain is a beauty, the extravagant chrome mud guards appeared on De Luxe versions and went well with the chrome strip along the side and the 5 chrome strips going from the hood to the tail. This car didn't have power brakes or power steering, things we take for granted now a days.
