In the 30's and 40' during World War II Americans weren't concerned with cars, they were just trying to stay alive, find some food, and work. Car factories in Detroit stopped producing cars and their factories were used to make planes and tanks. After the war the first American sports car was produced and it was a beauty, the 1953 Chevrolet Corvette.
