In 62' Ford wanted to create a car geared towards the younger generation of men. They wanted something that was cool with speed, muscle, and total performance. The 1962 Ford Galaxie 500XL Sunliner was the answer, it had options of a V8 engine with 292 to 390 and 406 cids. It was a rag top convertible that was low, and had a stylish chrome strip stretching the length of the car. The XL stood for "Extra Lively".
