The Ford Mustang was introduced on April 17, 1964 and sold 400,000 units in the first year. It was the bestselling new car in history so GM (feeling the pressure), immediately came out with the Camaro in 1967 in competition with Mustang. With the 64' Mustang you had the option of a fastback, hardtop coupe, or a convertible. The long hood-short rear design is being copied to this day. This truly is a trendsetting car.
